Jonathan, how is it possible that you don't have a deluge of readers and what can I do to change that? This was such a delight. Shitfuckery and the discernment of its precise nature is something we all need a break from. And the Honest Government Ad was my first thrill in this roller coaster. Then your photos! I stole the green bug, the red bug and the owl as future screensavers.

Then your mother's doggerel! I hope to leave something as capable of evoking smiles to my offspring, to offset the shitfuckery discernment that would be their current legacy. And then the danser encore! Love seeing those masks worn as neckmufflers. And in my haste to click, I skipped the note to read the lyrics and so had that delight waiting for me on my return.

But that's not all! Then the passion of math along with teaching me a new word--tesselation. I've been chatting with Fritz Freund who's taught me Vedic Mathematics--genius!

In keeping with your stack name, I recently wrote 'No wonder' and changed it to 'Know wonder'. It describes your multifaceted tesselated joyful multimedia treat well!

Hi Teresa, nice to see you here ("new sub") and delighted to see you're a fan of the term "shitfuckery" too!

Back to reading this tome.

Good morning Jonathan, thank you for this. I am not entirely sure, but I think we exchanged a few notes a while back. My book is now published - in the UK at https://www.hughwillbourn.com/book and elsewhere on Amazon / Audible / Kindle ... it addresses that which lies beneath the shitfuckery - but via stories rather than confrontation. You might enjoy it. Best, H

Excellent! Congratulations! I shall definitely check it out. And yes, even from the written word I recognise your urbane speech! What a pleasure. Good luck with the book: it sounds like exactly what we all need.

Hi Hugh. I bought your book last night; the Kindle version I'm afraid. I'm absolutely loving it. It's so refreshing to come across an original thinker. And what an interesting life you have led. I stayed up far too late last night with it ... but at least I'm enticed to an early night with it tonight!

Hi Jonathan - Thank you for purchasing and I'm delighted you are enjoying it, whatever the format. I hope your other readers will enjoy it too. To spread the word further still, when you finish, would you consider posting a short review on Amazon?

I am working to overcome my aversion to self-promotion. In the prescient words of Judge Billings Learned Hand, "the art of publicity is a black art; but it has come to stay, every year adds to its potency and to the finality of its judgments. The hand that rules the press, the radio, the screen and the far-spread magazine, rules the country whether we like it or not, we must learn to accept it."

Sad but true! I shall certainly endeavour to do so. I warn you though that I am terrible at promoting my own channel! One reader recently commented that she couldn't understand how I had so few readers!

Thank you. We must all overcome our modesty, otherwise only the shysters get the limelight.

Oh, quite right. Modesty is a major obstacle, especially in

and background;

but the truth is it's more old-fashioned ineptitude!

I'll second that observation.

Well now Jonathan, I couldn't quite grok the math and the shapes with very interesting names, but will pay it forward.

I received a sad brief note from a mathematically minded electrical engineer ex this morning.

He sounds deflated. On his last nerve. At the end of the rope attached to his life-preserver which he's not wearing at this time, and the water's deep.

He had no time for a lengthy back and forth, "at work" (my son's frequent excuse for having gone dark) and probably only just glanced at my latest stack, which I beamed him manually, as he's not subbed. 😉

I sent it to cheer him up, saying "the calvary's on its way" but it didn't seem to lighten his gloomy mood because he replied with an even gloomier outlook.

I suspect he might be drinking again. Which he has tended to do, I strongly suspect, and to excess, after yet another break-up with the mother of yet another young male offspring.

He didn't hit the bottle when we finally broke up in 1994, after 8 years of constant but temporary break-ups. As far as I know, he didn't bury himself in Jack Daniels and deep depression. Pretty sure I'd have heard about it by now...

But I digress.

Anyway, will send him this article too. (He probably won't have time to read all the comments. 😉)

Thanks again for being YOU Jonathan Reece. Will catch up on your previous articles as time permits. (New Sub.)

(PS: Was your witty poetry writing mum British?)

Yes (very!) British.

Now with what I said already said, let me say this - maybe this fella came up with the tile solution non-repeating ( I sort of doubt this ) can come up with the final answer to this puzzle I've been working on not too dissimilar in some ways and I appreciate geometry, so obviously I appreciate the fact the "amateur" found the solution while the "pros" were apparently pre-occupied I reckon worrying about where the next grant fund would come from....

So - here is the puzzle:

"Using perfect hexagons assuming such existed how many discrete shapes independent of orientation can be made 2-dimensionally with 8 hexagon pieces connected".

In response to your note about readership, how do you know only 4 out of 170 watched the French video and you must know it is bad form to denigrate your own readers......so really. I like things French, but lately the French are both misguided and suffering from poor leadership, so did you consider that Jonathen.

Meanwhile, I'm practicing on tying knots tighter and I'm not kidding around.
